On July 10th, the Transition Madison Area team took a minivan full of folks to the Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee, WI, for an “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream” symposium put on by the Pachamama Alliance.
The Symposium encouraged us to continue our work and commitment towards bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on this planet. Over the course of the day, we discussed four core questions about our human impact on the planet.
- Where Are We? – an examination of the state of environmental, social and personal well-being
- How did We Get Here? – tracing the root causes that lead to our current imbalance
- What’s Possible for the Future? – discovering new ways of relating with each other, with the Earth and looking at the emerging Movement for change
- Where Do We Go from Here? – considering the stand we want to be in the world and our personal and collective impact
After discussing our personal experiences at the symposium (those of despair, guilt, inspiration, and hope), the TMA team decided that we are interested in bring “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream” to the Madison area sometime in the near future. We will post again, as these plans are solidified. Until then, please check out the following sites to learn more about the symposium and the Pachamama Alliance….
